It may be ridiculous to believe, but I am kirbykin. Not of the specific hero himself, but of his unnamed species. As there are not yet many fictionkin on the forums, I thought I’d share my story of my experiences to help and clarify what my kintype means to me.

My awakening might have been psychological in nature? It’s hard to tell. Since I was 11 or 12, I’ve felt uncomfortable being human. Around that time, many members of my family started to experience serious health problems, and it’s possible that this startlingly sudden introduction to my own mortality made me wish I could be something nonhuman. Whether or not this is the case, after that point I started to have stronger and stronger connections to Kirby’s species. I wrote stories where I became one of his kind, and the idea excited me and made me feel like I had more of a say in my own future. I would’ve given almost anything to fulfill this dream. Heck, I’d still give almost anything to fulfill it. Being human feels really wrong to me, and it limits my potential. It’s not my true self, but it’s the only self that anybody can see. I am happier since discovering that I’m otherkin. I feel vibrant and more outgoing and closer to the way I’d like to be.

As for my identity itself, it just clicks with me. Being a kirby is natural, and knowing that others see me as one fills me with confidence. I want to be small, cute, and childish, but also able to completely hold my own. I want to be somebody who’s more than they look, and I don’t want to have to be afraid of the road ahead of me. There’s really nothing about Kirby’s species that doesn’t resonate with me. Trust me, I’ve been thinking about it for years.

There are more fictionkin here.  We just haven’t all written about ourselves yet.  But thank you for taking the time to do so. :)
