Update: I’ve decided to call this gather Dreamhaven.
So, after a long time of talking about it, it looks like I’ll actually be able to hold a kin gather of my own this year thanks to two old friends (Arial Rainfire and her partner Hollis Taylor) who have offered their house as a venue. Â The date, tentatively, will be the weekend of July 28th and the location will be Harrisburg, PA. Â We’re looking at possibly charging a small fee to provide a simple meal plan (one hot meal per day) but the exact details haven’t been worked out yet. Â Other than the food fee, there will be no fee for attendance. Â I will say that quarters may be a bit cramped, and they do have dogs for anyone who is allergic, but I think the location will work and that we can all have a lot of fun together. 🙂
Details regarding workshops and stuff still TBD. Â Just wanted to put this out there and see how much interest there is. Â We’re probably going to need to limit attendees to the 20-30 people range just due to space issues, though we might be able to fit in a few more if some choose to sleep at nearby hotels rather than on the property.
Update 2012.03.21: The logistical details (dates, times, fees, meals, etc) for the gather have now been finalized. Â The rest of this thread will be devoted to planning the workshops and such and answering any questions that may arise.

So, Workshops:
This is the place to talk about them.  If you’d like to offer one, or request one, or comment on one this is the place to do it. 
As I said on the event info page, I ask that any workshops explicitly discuss the connection between otherkin and the material covered during the course of the workshop.
At the moment, I’m leaning towards offering a workshop on the fundamentals of energywork myself. Â Possibly including the use of one of the Orgone Crystal Matrixes, though that won’t be the focus of the workshop. Â Grounding, Centering, Attunement, and Thoughtforms. Â Very similar to the articles on those subjects I’ve written on Dreamhart, though getting more into how otherkin specifically may mutate and apply these concepts. Â For example: a water-elemental otherkin grounding to the Sea, rather than to Earth.
Would people be interested in that?Â

I am just curious as to what types of workshops people are interested in general….What kinds of things do you dream of being able to experience?? Can we create that?

Hi Butterfly. 🙂 Thanks for registering. A specific address will be emailed out to everyone who registers a bit closer to the date of the event. Figure we’ll just send it to everyone at the same time rather than sending it out piecemeal, so we can be sure no one was missed. 🙂

To bring things back to workshops, I’m thinking of asking around and seeing if we can get anyone to run a workshop on ethical vampirism — both sang and psi, if possible. Â I could technically cover some of the material myself, but it would be from the donor perspective as I am not a vampire.
I think I’d like to do a variant of the old So… You’re Awake workshop Miaren used to run at several otherkin events, too. Â Not by that name, of course, nor copying her material but just a basic introduction to otherkin for the newly awakened or new to the community, or for any non-otherkin who might attend. Â Using otherkin in the broadest sense, to include vampires and therians. Â Anyone interested in helping with that?
And, any other ideas? Â Anyone? Â Bueller?Â

As far as workshops I have been thinking a lot about them. So I have numerous ideas, I don’t think I could do all of em but maybe one or two. So I wanted to post all of em’ and see what everyone is interested in. Here’s what I got…

Moving the Body & Soul
This would be a workshop integrating Yoga and Tai Chi – done at 3 different times of day in order to create certain physical feelings. (Ex: broad daylight, heat of the day for sweating, then another one at twilight among the lightening bugs, and then another late at night when the moon is in the sky) This would be done outdoors. This would be about getting in touch with our human body in order to reach within and find our otherkin self. What are we and how do we express that without words. You can stand still or move like in Tai Chi.Â

Recycling
This is a simple workshop where we get the specifics of how things were created at Faehaven and then each individual  is given space, time and supplies to create their own pieces to express their otherkin self or as a piece to remember their journey at Dreamhaven. Attendees would be encouraged to bring items to offer to the recycling faeries, trade at the recycling center and/or to use in their project.

Otherkin Sexuality
An open discussion for anyone interested in discussing the details of how their “otherkin sexuality” is expressed. With an open safe space created for all types of expression. I would open the discussion and welcome other sex positive individuals to join us for this clothed sexuality discussion in a certain portion of the outdoor sanctuary. (chairs, stools, and sitting mats would be encouraged)

What about any sort of energy workshops? I assume most folks attending are already in tune with their ‘other’ selves so beginners workshops like how to narrow down your ‘kin type, why it’s okay to not be otherkin, etc. won’t be discussed. But rather, more in depth discussions will take place?

I guess I was hoping that any of these 3 workshops would lead to discussion related to our otherkin and giving us space to express it. Such as someone that identifies as a wolf might attend the yoga workshops in order to completely embody the wolf within them and remove the human aspect of the now. This would allow for the body posture and the comfort level, then afterwards I had hoped to talk about our full embodied experiences and maybe share some of our past experiences and so on. So maybe I didn’t make the description enough… also I thought it would allow for a mixture of new otherkin and veteran kin.Â

I am no yoga master or anything its just a way I push back the human to bring out the kin…. and i thought i might share it with others. 🙂

I was talking to an attendee and she was saying she would love a workshop where she can work on wings, since she is a fellow fae. Would anyone else enjoy the “making something from recycled goods to help with your expression of yourself as a kin” – This could be anything really from some sort of costume piece, a decoration or alter piece. Also it would include us helping each other and exploring our creativity. I also hope it leads to discussion about theories, past life, and otherkin magik.Â
