I’d just like to give a little shoutout to Magpie, formerly of otherwonders.com, formerly of absinthia.com, the awesome webmistress of the Otherkin Resource Center and Otherkin Resource Board. Â The ORC may be gone, but never forgotten. Â It was the first website I ever read that actually explained what the word Otherkin meant in plain language, and it was a great index to the resources of the community. Â And the ORB, in its several incarnations, was the first Otherkin Message Board I ever joined. Â Actually, it may have been one of the first (if not the very first) to exist, the community had mainly been on mailing lists and IRC before that.
Anyway, Magpie if you ever come across this board and read this message… just wanted to say: thank you.
If anyone else would like to say thanks or give a shoutout, to magpie or any of the others who provided the early resources that made up the fledgling otherkin community, please feel free. Â

sade and sindar. Controversial figures to be sure, in their day, but wyldefae was formative for me (not that there weren’t a lot of other options in 1998!), and I do cherish the thread of the longing for “majikal environment” that I still carry with me.

Also, Tiernan. #tirnanoc is dead, long live #tirnanoc! In that sense at least I’ve got her to thank for finding a soulmate, and there are few greater gifts.

Ok, my reply seems to have been eated [by a grue]…
What made sade and sindar controversial? Â I remember them, but I don’t remember anything especially controversial about them.
And totally agreed with regard to Tiernan and #tirnanoc, despite all the fights I had with her (and all the other mods there, save Aine.)  Oddly enough, I also met my mate on #tirnanoc… in fact, it’ll be 11 years next Monday since Dusk and I met on there (roughly, we go by the date of my first email to him, which he saved, for our anniversary but think we actually met a couple of days earlier.)  It, and the TNO list, were very interesting places back then.  Really wish they were still around. Â

Being generally extra weird even by otherkin standards and sometimes being perceived to have radical views, were what I thought.

Yes, let’s see… as with you two, it depends how you count it; we really met the previous March but usually go from Thresholds in 1999, so that’d be 11 years for us too, almost exactly. lol. (and we’ve been married two years now, wow.)

Hmm… I don’t remember finding them to be so, but it’s been a while. Â Maybe I’m just forgetting what they were really like.
