I was kiiinda there, in that he mentioned to me he was there when I was at work, and I think I put in one line from his computer when I got home. I hear tell you had been doing workings to draw people out of the woodwork? And here I was just beginning to think the working I did at MythiCalia in 2009 was starting to seed and take root! (probably not… it would have been more local and sooner, if so. So what have you been doing, Jarin? Care to share your success so others may replicate? OTOH I understand there is often power in silence.)

Let’s see…

There’s this that I already posted publicly back in 2005: /2009/02/silent-voices-calling/  I’ve renewed it, at least once a year, since then.

The old symbol of the WanderingPaths website was charged with some stuff along the same lines: Auryn

The new logo of the SpaceElves website is charged to attract space-elf otherkin and also to help recover memories of space-elven lives if used as a meditation aid: SpaceElvesImage Enlarger

The poem I posted to WanderingPaths on April 8th, 2011 was part of a working to try to call back to the community some things that it’s lost:

What’s Changed

Do you remember those days,

so dear now they’ve gone,

when kin were like a family

and not so withdrawn?

And we didn’t all agree,

we didn’t all get along,

we squabbled, we fought,

but we kept going strong.

There were glades of fae and satyrs,

who’d beckon you come in,

pixies who growled, while

dragons smiled and grinned.

What’s changed over time,

and what’s been the cost?

What have we gained,

and what have we lost?

Lists weren’t abandoned,

or deleted outright.

Folks didn’t stop talking

over one little fight.

New kin weren’t dissected,

like lab specimens,

to see if they’re trolling or

if they’re genuine.

There were glades of fae and satyrs,

who’d beckon you come in,

pixies who growled, while

dragons smiled and grinned.

What’s changed over time,

and what’s been the cost?

What have we gained,

and what have we lost?

Where are the satyrs,

space-elves and sidhe?

Brrrnn, multiples,

hosts and Tuatha DD?

And the cloak-winged dragons

who danced on the wind?

Do you think we’ll

ever see them again?

There were glades of fae and satyrs,

who’d beckon you come in,

pixies who growled, while

dragons smiled and grinned.

What’s changed over time,

and what’s been the cost?

What have we gained,

and what have we lost?

I think that’s all of the stuff that’s left public traces.  I’ve also done some informal workings, though I couldn’t give specific dates or exactly what they entailed if I tried.  Most of them were spontaneous, unplanned, and I never wrote down the words used or the specifics of the energywork.  Yeah, I know, bad magic-worker I should be keeping a journal of this stuff.  I don’t always.

I haven’t done anything recently that I can think of, but the last few months old kin-friends have been falling out of the woodwork.  Dor and seaba (though the latter has unfortunately passed now), Audra/Maddolphinpoet, SmokeChaser/Smokierings, an old friend of mine from high school that identified as a dragon before I’d even heard of the otherkin community, Cel… I feel like I’m leaving a few out, too, but I can’t think who I’m missing at the moment.

I’m also seeing some movement by folks I haven’t seen active in a long time: http://hartandale.com/  Though no idea what will come of it.

Is any of this ’cause of my workings?  No idea.  But this looks like more than mere coincidence to me.

Just split this thread off into its own topic, ’cause I wanted to add something.  Older otherkin *really* seem to be crawling out of the woodwork lately.  Don’t know if this is from any of my workings or just something in the air lately, but currently on the #dreamhart IRC channel I have a user who used to go by ChoronzontheVoid on the ORB and who hasn’t really been involved with the community since it shut down.

I unearthed this that I wrote late last summer… when I say wrote I do mean “composed”, but also hand wrote, with a dip quill pen, in green ink on parchment texture paper, and then decorated with glitter and such as part of a particular casting/calling.

I call to others like myself,
Of sidhe and faery race
Or elven or of Danann kind:
I draw you to this place.
A beacon is this balefire,
A glamour-shining light
To guide you to me, otherkin,
Who remember majik right.
You fey who carry still the thread
Of silver-woven Dream
That once we kin all knew we had–
That glittering, that gleam
Of ancientness of memory
Of Fae and Elven lands
Of Green so deep or Underhill–
All you, hear this demand:
Appear, my Californian kin,
You elves and fae and sidhe
Who know glamour and know starsong–
You other ones like me!
Let us tread the paths of majik
As in the days gone by,
As know wonder in the twilight,
Find where enchantment lies.
Come share the cup of elven-mead
Within the starlit Glade.
Now, by my power of sovereignty,
Eä! This charm is made.

I suppose one could say it had some success, since people I’d never known and who turned out to be elves and such (including the Draestari I mentioned in chat) came out of my own relative woodwork at PantheCon or randomly found the SFBay meetup. So, perhaps not all I might have wished, but something.
