More seriously… it looks vaaaaguely familiar, but I really can’t get a solid ping on it.

Shortly before his death, Eyovah added this symbol to his website as part of a set of three symbols that were not themselves charged but were supposed to attune you to Reiki.  This was the one he chose for Master level.  Sadly, the page it was on was never archived by the two people who mirrored his site, or by archive.org, and my copy of it was lost in a hard drive failure.

That was really all I knew about it for a long time, other than the fact that he and Firefen had been working on it together at WtT 2 when I first met them both.  They hadn’t settled on this symbol then, though.

More recently, in 2008 when I was preparing my Matrix prototypes and doing some research into gateworking with them, I found that one of his other friends, Seran D’Fae, had been working with him on this stuff.  And the symbol’s a lot more than just a Reiki attunement symbol.  It’s supposed to be a “Scrying/Gatemaster’s symbol”.  As I have his permission to share this around and post it, here are the notes he gave me:

 Scrying/Gatemaster’s Symbol 

This symbol can be visualized whole, but it helps to draw it out in the mind.  The way I’ve done it is to imagine the top part of it by drawing from the center out the three lines.  It can be visualized in three dimensions like the tetrahedral structure of a carbon atom.  Like an atom trying to fill its outer electron shell, envision drawing in energy to the center.

For the center part, envision a white outlined hexagon with a black hexagon 1/3 its size in its center.  Imagine the triad symbol above it drawn out in its center.  Then imagine lines half the width of the sides of the smaller hexagon going out from the center to the opposite corners from the triad, then out clockwise along the edge of the outer hexagon, terminating at the triad lines.

For the bottom part envision the top symbol inverted, but rather than draw it from the center out draw it from the outside in.  Using the model of the carbon atom imagine that the bonds have been filled.  This part is like a sealing invocation, such as, “So mote it be.”

What I’ve come up with so far using this symbol is that the center part is like a Celtic triple knot, something like an infinity symbol with three loops rather than two.  One loop is healing, the second communication beyond our existence, the third going to/drawing energy from that existence, and so back to healing to complete the cycle.  I’ve used it thus far to charge stones and my energy matrix, for communicating beyond and for healing work.  It seems to have the similar properties to the nontraditional Reiki III Master’s symbol.
