Hi there!  I’m Xedri, a Tigerkin hailing from the Washington, DC region.  That’s not my real name, just my long-time online persona.

My awakening has happened gradually over the last 10 years or so.  It began in college when I started to feel I had a number of cat-like traits and mannerisms, particularly in interacting with close friends that I felt comfortable with.  Much of that was repressed or kept hidden when I started associating with a Wiccan community who tended to sneer at Otherkin.  However, in working with my totem spirit, my tiger side was brought to the surface, and a couple of years ago I began to realize the origins/nature of my spirit.  Then about a year and a half ago I learned of the term “therian” and everything I knew about myself finally (and completely) clicked.

I now understand that I am a tiger soul who has chosen to live a human incarnation (though I am not certain of why).  I don’t feel I was born into the wrong body, or that I *should* be a tiger, because I know I chose this incarnation.  Instead, I can shape-shift my aura/astral self/mentality/etc. at will, and usually spend time somewhere in between human and tiger.

Would you like to know the ironic part?  I am severely allergic to cats.  And when it comes to pets, I am definitely a “dog person.”  I figure, opposites attract?
