Heard some interesting things recently about a gathering of otherkin in 2007 at a hotel in Los Angeles that got 80+ attendees. Â Unfortunately the person telling me about it couldn't remember the name of the gather, and I haven't been able to find anything except Twilight I (which he said was definitely not the gather he was talking about.) Â Anyone else know what gather this would be?

O.o I have absolutely no idea what this could possibly be. A couple years ago (2010) someone was going around talking about doing an “elvin” [sic] convention at a hotel, but that was going to be in Arizona and as far as I know it never happened.
If it’s not Twilight (which I hadn’t remembered off the top of my head, but with some quick Googling, would now have been my first guess too)… er… Someone isn’t perhaps mistaking Labyrinth of Jareth (which might certainly attract otherkin, but I’d be very surprised if 80+ explicitly showed up and got together) for an actual kin gather, are they? That’s the only other SoCal vaguely “otherish” thing I can think of… if 80 kin did do something down there in 2007, they didn’t post about it on any web boards or mailing lists or anything! (And IIRC at the time Facebook wasn’t the giant it is now… MySpace maybe? ye gods.)
Any more details in the “some interesting things”?

Well, he wasn't let in because he was human. Â He was made to stand outside while his friends attended. Â If I see him again, I'll try to get more info (and direct him over to the forum here to talk about it himself.) Â 2007 may also be a rough date, rather than an exact one, I'm not certain. Â I'd give a year or two on either side. Â But still, I wasn't finding much that it could have been.
